Full Moon in Pisces
This past week I had one of the best nights that I have had in a long time. I went out with a new friend to a pop-up restaurant in Seattle, but it wasn’t the food that made the night memorable; it was the connections that happened. This friend is somewhat new to my world and it was the first time we hung-out together alone, just the two of us. The conversation flowed along with the wine, and we laughed and talked about where we are in our lives. As fate would have it, we ended up making a new friend. It all happened so easily, so peacefully, so perfectly. The three of us talked into the early hours of the morning, and what I loved best was that all three of us were open. We were open to conversation, open to spending time together, open to keeping our phones off the table and out of sight. We laughed, shared stories, and were present.
Contrasting this, last night as I was walking under the light of a moon turned red by smoke coming into the city, I realized I’ve also been hearing about rejection a lot this week. Not huge displays of obvious rejection, but stories about rejections like those paper cuts that over time, become real wounds. These stories are about how we reject someone without even realizing it; how our own agendas become more important than being present with someone who wants to connect. These two different experiences made me realize that the theme of this Full Moon is connection. Can we connect with people, hold our boundaries and not be self-centered in our lives? Can we spend time with another person doing something they want to do and feel joy about it? Can we make the decision to spend time with someone we love, even if it means you delaying a pressing chore for one more day? How can we learn that to help people feel loved, we need to be present for them? Just as we need someone to show up for us at various points in our lives.
Connection in this hyper-world we live in also requires slowing down. Can we take this Full Moon to slow down and prepare for the Fall? Can we let go of the need to control everything and just be there for other people? Can we put our phones away? Can we take an extra five minutes in our day to chat with that person in the coffee line? Can we have dinner with a stranger and simply allow the connection to flow? How about if we make a date with ourselves to just allow this summer to work its magic while we take a walk in nature? Let’s just allow people to cancel plans if they need too, knowing the evening will be perfect. Our agenda does not need to override the Universe or Fate. Our personal plans can flow like a river.
A Ritual for Connection
This week take some time to just connect with someone. If that doesn’t feel right or comfortable, take some time to connect with yourself. Put the computer, phone and tablet away. There’s no need for text messages, phone calls or photographs. We want to use this time to connect with what’s around us, including events, people, and places in and around our reality.
When you are ready, take out your journal and just write. Write down where you are connecting and what places you feel a need to reconnect. Sometimes reconnection is not possible because of distance; either emotional or physical. How can you take this energy to reconnect and turn it inward? Reconnect with your spirit. What would this reconnection look like? Are there places in your life where you would like to connect with newness? Can you imagine a world where you can take vacations with friends and not worry about money? Can you imagine a world where someone you find interesting or attractive notices you and wants to connect as well? Can you imagine connecting with your creative e spirit and getting over that writer’s block? Write all of this down. Connection can mean so much. We want to use this Full Moon to explore connections in the sensitive fashion that the Pisces sign calls for. Let’s seek sensitive, creative connection.
Let’s use our imagination and words to connect with the Universe this week.
