Ritual for Doing Things Differently
The New Moon in Taurus and the change in Uranus have left us different than before. In the last week the requirement for some change that has made itself known. Whether it’s a Royal Wedding that defied convention, another school event that brings us – again - closer to the realization that we need to do more to support our society or it’s the need for change on a personal level, where you begin to feel those deep shifts occur. We learned something this week. We are shown the feelings of change and we accept that nothing is constant in our world but change.
As I spend more time slowing life down, I feel myself healing. I am getting outside on a daily basis, which allows me to notice things like the blooming patch of Lily of the Valley that I never saw before. It’s allowing me to spend time with my 17 year-old dog in a way that we haven’t been together since she was a puppy. I am spending time with my own thoughts and it helping me connect with some personal truths. One of these is that I realize I value true connection over digital connection, while acknowledging that digital connection can lead to true connection. It is simply that the scale is smaller than we realized. Where is the value of having 3,000 “friends” if we never truly connect with them in a real community setting? The more I slow down, the more I am in touch, and in tune, with my body and what it needs. I’m noticing which activities and thoughts work for me and which don’t and starting to build my life around that knowledge. I know that the days of me sitting in an office are over, but that doesn’t mean the days of me no longer working are ahead. It just means that I need to expand on the notions of what my future could look like. I’m grateful that my health issues are not as severe as they were and could be, and that I am finally at a place in my recovery where I can see this new way of living as a welcome thing, not something that I am forced into by illness. Also as I slow down, I am finding that setting personal boundaries is getting easier. I’ve become fiercely protective over my health and wellness and this includes understanding what I can truly do within my limits. The changes require that I do things differently.
Have you noticed a place in your life or spirit lately where you wish you could do things differently, where you know you need to change or are you starting to notice that you are reacting differently to things? Let’s share our gratitude for this awareness and our desire to change. Let’s notice not just in our own personal lives where change is needed and happening but also in our communities. We need to learn to embrace change that is healthy and inclusive for all and reject the old way of doing things. It’s no longer working for us. And change can be a really good thing. Change energy has me walking 5 miles a day in addition to my regular walking routine. Change energy has me figuring out alternative ways to continue to invest in my career while also honoring my limitations and needs. Change energy has me dating in a whole new way where I feel more comfortable and open to letting people close. Change energy has allowed me to have fun while I figure out the best healthy eating plan for my particular body. Change energy does not need to be scary. It really can be a good thing.
The Universe wants us to change. It’s asking us to change. It’s helping us to see it and take action towards creating it. Sometimes it’s fast but mostly it’s a slow process. Change has no timeline.
A Ritual for Doing Things Differently
Where in your life to do you see, feel or experience change? Where do you want to do things differently? Spend some time outside this week thinking about change. Where do you experience it in your life? Where do you wish you could do things differently? Where are you ready for change to happen?
Let’s use explorer energy this week to see if we can find answers or clues to this energy. How are you changing?
I also want to use some release magic to invite change energy in. I invite you to take some time this week to find an outcropping of rocks where you can sit and write down what you want to release or what is no longer working. It might be anything from “I drink too much soda pop” to “I am attracted to emotionally unavailable men”. If this is not possible, simply find a small rock and hold it in your hand, setting the intention of what energy you want to transfer to the rock for release. When you are ready you can either throw the rock in some water like a lake, a river, the Sound, the Ocean. Or bury the rock in dirt or a potted plant. Bury it deep enough that no one will find it. Let go of what is no longer working so you can invite positive change energy into your life.
Let’s do things differently this week. Let’s say hello to our neighbors and friends. Let’s spend time talking to each other and let’s put our phones/computers/watches away – for a little while anyway - and enjoy our time together.
