Full Moon in Scorpio
The energy leading up to this full moon has been intense and very raw. We are working with those elements that make us human; life, death, pleasure, love, and loss. It’s a Scorpio full moon, and so there are emotions and passions swirling around that will help us make some life changes.
In the last week, I have had first-hand experience with loss and radical decision-making. One of my idols passed away. She was an Aquarius but must have had a lot of Scorpio in her. She was a feisty, funny, fabulous artist and a strong, caring mother. I grew up visiting her house and art studio in the woods and learning all about art, family, laughter, good food and cashmere. She was unique and though a very petite woman, her laughter could fill up the house. She was married to a gentle giant and my father’s best friend since childhood. She was a devoted mother to a man I consider a brother. She loved us kids unconditionally and always enjoyed the company of others.
As I made my way through this grief process, I started to reflect on my life and its direction. I know there are places I want to go but suddenly, the parts where I was holding myself back came to light. I have been talking about living from a place of fear because I realized I am living in that place. Some of my decisions in the last two decades of my life have been rooted in fear; fear of change, of being myself, of failure, or of living the life that best suits me. I thought about this woman that I loved and that helped shape me and how in the last two years I have been craving time with her. I would simply show up at her house for a visit because I knew I needed to sit with someone that would love and support me no matter where I was in life. I would show up and sit at her table and laugh, cry and try to crawl my way out of my fears. Her only desire was to see people happy and healthy. While she had no shallow dreams, she was never fazed by mine. She was an artist in every cell of her body and life was her inspiration.
So, I made a decision. I no longer want to live in fear. Life is worth living out loud. I no longer want to play small, or be overly critical on myself. I no longer want to deny myself pleasure, humor, confidence or strength because I fear what other people will think. I want to embrace life in all its phases. Life, death, pleasure, grief, love, happiness and community. I want to embrace it all and move towards my dreams. I want to live like Reni did. As an artist, a lover, a friend, a mother, a maker of beauty.
This Scorpio full moon is giving us permission to live out loud. It’s giving us permission to make changes that will benefit our spirit and our path. This full moon is whispering in our ears that our dreams are worth it, that our lives are worth it, and that life is worth living.
How Are You Living Your Life?
Are you living the life you want to be living? Or are you living a life based in fear; of change, of growth, or of living out loud? What can we do to help your authentic self step forward?
For this ritual, we want to connect with feminine water energy. We have a lot of feminine energy that is rolling around the Universe at the moment. We want to honor it and honor the divine in water. If you can, walk to the water’s edge. It can be the ocean, a river, a lake, the sound or just a hot salt bath. Reni loved the natural salt waters of the Northwest and would often take a dip in the Sound every day from April until October. She would do this as her break from painting for the day and preparing to get ready to make dinner. It was her ritual. What can we do to honor water and create a ritual around it?
While you are working with the water energy, think about who you are. The true version of yourself that you only share with a few select people. We want this version of who you are - the part of you that loves and is loved unconditionally - to come to the front. Write down all the things that you love about yourself in your journal. It can be your fondness for good champagne, for helping to rescue wild life, it can be about how much you love your mother and how she is your best friend. Write down as much as you can about everything you love in life. Next, think about how we can slowly let our authentic spirits start to surface. Does this mean you will sign up for that dance class you have always wanted? Does it mean that you are no longer interested in shallow and limiting friendships? Does it mean that men who don’t make you feel like you sparkle are no longer worth your time? How can we move towards living our best lives? Write down all the places in your life where you are starting to see change. When you are ready, rip the list up and release it into the water. If you don’t have water nearby, you can cut the list up and flush it down the toilet. This is the city dweller’s method of honoring the water element.
Let your fears go, give them over to the Universe. Let go of those situations that are holding you back. Let the authentic version of you start to shine. Live a life full of love, art, friends, good food and cashmere like Reni did. Live a life where you laugh so hard you cry. Enjoy a true authentic belly laugh mixed in with love. Pure love.
