Like most people I sometimes, okay frequently, think I am in control of my life and that events will unfold the way I wish or expect. This is a prevalent myth that is upended on a daily basis by faulty alarm clocks, co-workers getting sick, friends moving out of town or leaving a twenty in the change dispenser at the grocery store. What do we do when things don’t go our way?
Following the last few weeks of myth-busting lessons, we are entering a period of acceptance, a time of surrender. The eclipse and New Moon hopefully brought some insight into where you are in the present moment and where you want to go. It also hopefully helped you release what was no longer working. So what’s next? Next we acknowledge the desire to surrender to the Universe and allow for the magic.
This energy of surrender has been strong lately. While I love where my life is at the moment, I also realize that nothing is permanent. At first I become scared when I start to feel this energy coming my way. What if I start to lose these things I love that have just come my way? But the more I surrender, the more I realize the Universe is working on my behalf. If something leaves, it was not supposed to be here for very long. If someone leaves, I will be fine. In fact, I will be more than fine because my heart is opening and ready to stay open. It feels good to know that my heart is allowing people to get close to me and that those people are proving to be worthy and needed. I am accepting the idea that my career is not as secure as I would like it to be. While at first this made me scared, the deeper into surrender I went, the more I realized that maybe this is for the best.
Ritual for Surrendering and Protection
Let’s sit down and think about or write about places where we might have felt or seen fear coming up. Are there places that have changed over the last few weeks and made you feel a little less secure? Let’s identify these places and work with them. Let’s lean into Surrender and belief in the Universe. If you lose these things, what would your life look like? Would you be okay? And if not, then what can you do now to help you feel more secure. This is not a place to grab onto and try to control more. This is when we want to remember when we had lost things and everything turned out for the best. Often things turned out better than before.
Light a candle, sit in a tub of bath salts, and even cry if you need too. Then welcome Surrender. At the same time, lean into your big dreams. Maybe accepting the little (and the big) fears will keep you on the path to your dreams? Lean into love and your community. Lean into your own strength and belief in the Universe.
Also, if you have any clove, let’s work with that this week. It’s a protection herb and will help you to gain what you want. Carry a few pieces of clove in your pocket, wallet, put some in your pillow case and keep some in your desk at work. It will help.
