Slowing down to awake up the Warrior Goddess
My adrenal glands are blown. Between what’s happening politically, what’s happening to loved ones around me, a product launch at my day job and launching new Ritual Coaching products, I am fried. I believe the energy of having our worlds crumble is contributing greatly to this exhaustion. We can no longer fall back to our old ways to feel safe. The old story no longer makes any sense; it is uncomfortable. Personally, and on a larger world scale.
So what do we do when everything around us feels like it is speeding up? When our adrenal glands are fried and we are living off of coffee, stress and short tempers? We need to call in Warrior Goddess energy to help us become strong. We need to slow our lives down. We will focus on what we can accomplish and take small actions where possible so we that we are not a collection of raw nerves adding to the fray. We need to become strategic and smart with our energy.
This week the Universe is asking us to take care of ourselves, to keep waking up to what has become of our lives and our society, and not to go back to sleep. The question is how can we care for ourselves and others in a more balanced way as we step into a future that is very different from our past? This week is asking us to look at the strength of warriors and study how to become strong and focused.
This energy is hard for a lot of people, myself included. At times, I long for the past and hold onto things longer than I should. I live in the memories of first loves, first solo travel experiences, first East Coast adventures. I live in the memories of a time when my Grandparents were alive and I still felt safe in the world. As we race into this week, we need to remember that safety comes from community. It comes from our strength and our ability take care of ourselves and to take care of others. It comes from our hearts still being open even after big mistakes are made that could potentially shut us down, and it comes from action, the action that will help ourselves and our community.
I spent Friday night focusing on exactly this. I did not go out to a party, but instead took myself to a coffee shop to write and focus on slowing down. I needed to get onto paper all the uneasy parts of myself. I wanted to shed, to highlight and to make a plan of how to handle these feelings because I knew this upcoming week would be hard. To face my fears about what’s happening right now and become strategic about how to conquer the fear.
Ritual to Slow Down
This week’s ritual will be in two phases. The beginning of the week we need to slow down, to write in our journals about our shadow sides. What are we fearing? What is being triggered in our nervous systems? What can we do to counter the uneasy feelings we are having?
In the second part of the week, we need to stand in our strength. The storm is still brewing and has yet to reach shore. We need to prepare mentally and physically for the changes that are about to take place. We need to call in the Warrior Goddess. Make sure you are caring for yourself enough that you can care for others and not be hurt in the process. Standing in strength is a power move for all of us. However, it requires self-care so we don’t weaken. It requires knowing our limits and boundaries so we don’t become fried. It requires balance so we can handle change. For this part, let’s write down our strengths. Let’s focus on our skills and how we can use them to stand in our strength. What makes you feel strong? What are you good at that might be useful for others? Let’s get to know ourselves better so we have the energy and strength that these times require.
Let’s use this week to shift our energy and not fall back on the old story. We want to keep waking up and allow our worlds to expand while also taking care of ourselves.
I would recommend salt baths this week, perhaps more than one. We will have a lot of energy running through our systems that we need to release. And remember to slow down; it’s acceptable to slow down for a few moments, just make sure to stay awake.
