New Year's Eve and New Moon Ritual
My theme for 2016 has been Heart Openings. This has not been an easy theme for me, nor did it involve or result in anything wonderfully romantic. I came away with the knowledge that true heart openings require facing your fears. It can require painful growth to learn that you will be okay. It can require the energy that comes from anxiety to keep you moving forward. And it can require strength to help you stare into the Dragon we call feelings and emotions.
And yet, here we are at a Capricorn New Moon and the softness of what my heart has become after this work is beautiful and radical. It all feels necessary, even the uncomfortable parts. I feel out of the woods a bit, further along on my human journey. Closer to my dreams. So many times, this month I have been shown love by the Universe. Gifts of true heart-felt love have been coming my way.
These gifts have come in the form of out of town visitors, party invites that make me realize I have an amazing community, text messages from a special someone that makes me feel like I sparkle and deserve this amazing life and more.
The greatest gift that 2016 has given us is creating space. Space to look towards 2017 and dream. There have been so many endings this year. Some easy, some painful, all necessary.
This New Moon right before New Year’s Eve allows us to access some extra magic for 2017 while we set our intentions. What are we ready to set intentions around for 2017? Where do you have space in your life that is ready to be filled?
My motto for 2017 is: Loving the Authentic
I will seek out, recognize and honor the authentic this year; the authentic in people, emotions and relationships. I know this is what I will be working with in 2017 thanks to all my endings of 2016 and my heart opening. I will be loving myself more, loving who I am at my very core and studying how I can to love others for exactly who they are; whether good, bad or ugly. We all deserve to live in a place where we feel authentic love towards ourselves and others.
What is your motto for 2017?
Are you like my friend that just ended a 20-year marriage and now having to find themselves again? Are you like another friend that is currently on a REBIRTH journey but is still in such early stages she feels vulnerable? Are you in the place that my best friend is in where she is learning to be stronger and not let her fear of rejection keep her from moving towards her dreams? Are you like me, experiencing a heart opening so large that you accept the journey and expect 2017 is going to be all about love; finding love, receiving love, giving love and meeting love. The kind of year where you realize - after many years of being single and happy - that you are now ready to share your life with someone?
Let’s use this New Moon to write about where we want this New Moon magic to help with our intentions for 2017. Let’s spend the time between the New Moon and New Year’s Eve, setting intentions, making space and dreaming about the wonderful things that will fill the new year.
This week, set your intentions for 2017.
Pick a motto for the year. Next, pick 4 or 5 key words that will help guide you with your intentions. How do you want to feel this year? Next write your intentions out with those feelings in mind. If Loving is your word, write about what it’s like to be in love. How much love you have that you can share with others. If success is one of your words, write about how good it feels at the end of projects to turn them in early, under budget and the approval of the CEO.
We want to use these words to future set our intentions.
Have a beautiful New Year’s Eve.
